2013 overview

31 December 2013

Just a few flights to go and 2013 comes to an end... and with it comes the inevitable list of the past year.

A year where I gladly let go of some persons, mourned the sudden death of a loved and close family member that is still dearly missed, met some wonderful and genuinely fantastic people that I am now happy to call my friends, travelled across Alaska, survived an airplane crash, stood within one year within meters on both sides of the most tense and secured border in the world; the DMZ between North- and South-Korea, flew around the world 6 times, had 3 annoying food poisonings, travelled through North-Korea, been chased by drug-runners at night between Holland and Belgium 3 times, turned 30 years old, gained a few kilos (hopefully getting rid of them in 2014) and took a few pictures here and there. And on top of that, life seems to get better and more interesting every year :)

Flying wise it has been an interesting year as well, with only one more trip taken into account, I flew 570 hours (of which 263 hours 747-400 and 304 hours 747-8), two diversions, one autoland, flown about 598.000km and burned about 5,7 million kg of kerosine.
Lets hope 2014 will be at least as good, or even better then last year!

Happy holidays and blue skies! :)
